Chocolate-Walnut Date Treats

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Bake Believe® Chocolate Flavored Melting Wafers
  • 9 pitted Medjool dates
  • 9 walnut halves, each cut in half
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions:

  1. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Find the opening on the dates where the pit was removed and split open.  It should run lengthwise along the date.
  3. Stuff 2 walnut pieces into the opening of the date.
  4. Place the chocolate melting wafers in a medium heat-proof bowl and microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth.
  5. Dip the stuffed dates halfway vertically into the melted wafers, one at a time.
  6. Shake to remove the excess melting wafers and place the dipped date on the lined cookie sheet.
  7. Immediately sprinkle the chocolate-dipped side of the date generously with the chopped walnuts.
  8. Sprinkle the chocolate-dipped side with a small amount of kosher salt, as well.
  9. Repeat the process with the remaining dates.
  10. Place the date treats in the freezer for 5 minutes to harden.
  11. Enjoy right away or store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
